Isuzu adds new flagship to MU-X range

Isuzu has refreshed the popular MU-X, a model that continues to blend impressive capability with premium comfort and cutting-edge design. At the same time Isuzu has added the MU-X 3.0-litre 4x4 Onyx XT to the offering.

With exterior and interior enhancements, the 2025 Isuzu MU-X model line-up raises the bar with improved styling, upgraded technology and refined driving dynamics.

Exterior enhancements

The Isuzu MU-X enjoys bold and dynamic styling that has now been completely reimagined with the fitment of a new bumper, restyled grille, redesigned Isuzu badge and a sharper, more aggressive cluster. The LED headlamps, featuring bi-beam technology, LED daytime running lights and repositioned fog lamps enhance visibility while adding a futuristic edge.

Rear updates include a revised bumper, a new tailgate design, the introduction of a mid-level spoiler and new badging. The advanced combination LED taillights are linked by a distinctive tailgate garnish that reinforces the athletic flair of the MU-X.

New alloy wheel designs include 18-inch multi-spoke alloys on LS and LSE models and striking 20-inch wheels on the new Onyx XT.

A refined interior

The interior has received the lion’s share of updates, including a revamped dashboard, new interior colours for the doors and armrests as well as reworked leather seat patterns which all contribute to elevating the premium feel.

The infotainment system has been upgraded with a high resolution nine-inch display that features a piano black finish, two rotary dials and five touch-sensitive switches. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard, with connectivity via USB or wirelessly through Bluetooth.

LSE and Onyx XT models gain a new digital 360-degree Surround View Monitor that significantly enhances all-round visibility, which is useful when traversing either urban or off-road terrain. Multiple selectable viewing angles include an innovative new underfloor view that allows the driver to accurately guide the vehicle around obstacles.

A redesigned seven-inch multi-information display sits within the driver’s instrument cluster and provides vital driving information with improved clarity.

A new flagship model

The new Onyx XT takes the MU-X’s rugged elegance to a new level, with the exclusive 3.0-litre model featuring a range of distinctive design elements, including a gloss black grille finish, metallic light magnetite bumper, gloss black roof rails and Onyx black side mirrors. Gloss black door mouldings, a rear liftgate garnish and metallic light magnetite accent panels add further visual impact while unique XT badging on the grille and bodywork further enhances the Onyx XT’s striking appearance.

The interior of the Onyx XT features a premium yet sporty feel thanks to exclusive red ambient lighting on the dashboard and doors, complimented by white footwell and overhead console illumination. The leather seats gain red stitching and the steering wheel a piano black finish with a metallic lower centre ornament.

The Onyx XT is fitted with the same infotainment system but gains additional USB Type-C ports. The driver’s Multi Information Display features unique XT graphics with red accents.

A powerful yet efficient engine line up

The Isuzu MU-X is still offered with two powerful and efficient turbodiesel engines. The proven 3.0-litre engine, which is available in LS, LSE and Onyx XT specification offers 140kW and 450Nm.

The 1.9-litre variant offered on the LS variant offers a great balance between power and economy, with 110kW and 350Nm on tap while using as little as 7,0 litres per 100km.

Both engine options are paired with six-speed automatic transmissions. The 1.9-litre LS is available in 4x2 only while the 3.0-litre can be had with either a 4x2 or a 4x4 drivetrain coupled with a diff-lock and low-range transfer case.

Model range and pricing

The Isuzu MU-X range is sold with a five-year/90 000km service plan, five-year/120 000km warranty and roadside assistance.
